Are you are highly capable, talented and passionate Software Engineer graduating in late 2019? Are you looking to join a dynamic and interesting startup that has solid foundations and unique product offerings? If so, please read on....

About Us

At Displayr, our mission is to make it easier for everyone discover and share the stories in their data. We have two products we’re pretty proud of – Q Research Software, the most advanced analysis tool designed for market researchers and Displayr, a revolutionary online data science, visualization and reporting platform.

We are a rapidly growing start-up. But don’t stress - unlike most start-ups that are 'rapidly growing', Displayr is built on the rock-solid foundation of our awesome products. The sales of Q and Displayr fund our (competitive) salaries, our (fun) team lunches and even more importantly - allows us to keep growing safely. Our team of creative and hard-working employees has grown from 12 to 49 in the last three years.

About the Job

Are you a talented graduate software engineer that wants to play an instrumental role in the development of an app that is truly unique? Do you want to see the decisions you make change the app in real time? We’re looking for a graduate software engineer and you could be perfect.

Here are some of things you’ll get to do:

  • Talk to product owners, contribute ideas, work out what needs to be done, liaise, implement it, and test it; there are no business analysts here.
  • Front-end development in TypeScript, HTML and CSS. We avoid using JavaScript frameworks because our main UI is more like PowerPoint than a standard web form.
  • Server-side development in C#.
  • Internal systems in what works: Python, Node, etc.
  • Write unit tests and automated end-to-end tests.

Here’s a snapshot of daily life:

Daily life involves developing features or bug fixes, talking with product owners and your team to solve problems, a stand-up meeting to keep track of progress, and monitoring log alerts and crash reports for your work that is already in production environments. We encourage our engineers to work on every part of the stack – there are no pure frontend/backend engineers here.

About You

This is a role suited for recent graduates or candidates with less than three years’ experience in Software Engineering. You have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer science or equivalent with First Class Honours or Ph. D., or other evidence of exceptional ability. We welcome applications from students graduating at the end of this year, with a view to start in January 2020. Junior software engineers (1-3 years) are also invited to apply.
  • A demonstrable passion for programming and UX.
  • The attitude of a self-starter. We expect our developers to come with us with new ideas and technologies.
  • An Australian citizenship or permanent residency

If you’re someone who likes to work on new technology and learn new areas of your work projects and truly challenge yourself, our company is your perfect fit.

Reminder, if you have a site where your code is public, please share this in your resume as it will help you to stand out from the crowd.

Our Environment

  • Client: TypeScript, CSS3, HTML5 (PowerPoint-like UI - custom OO framework)
  • Servers: C#, MVC, MS SQL Server, Azure, Windows Server, R, Ubuntu
  • Desktop app: C#, WinForms, .NET, Embedded Chrome
  • Daily automated deployments to Microsoft Azure
  • Continuous integration builds with unit tests
  • Automated web browser tests (Selenium)
  • One-on-one code reviews
  • Source control (Git)
  • Agile (Scrumban)
  • Flexible work hours (before/after core hours of 10.30am - 5pm)
Why work at Displayr?

Unlike at other companies, you won’t just be a cog in the machine. Everyday you’ll be able to see the decisions you make have a tangible impact. You’ll be helping people who never dreamed they ‘could do’ data science.

But that’s not all. Along with a healthy compensation package ($80K - $100K depending on experience etc.) we also offer share options in the business. While Displayr grows, you’ll grow too.

While we work hard and always push for awesome, our workplace culture is pretty relaxed. We enjoy flexible work hours (before/after core hours of 10.30-5pm) and weekly team lunches. Our chic converted warehouse head office in Glebe, Sydney is joined by offices in London, UK and Chicago, US. And we’re just getting started.

So, nice job! You’ve already picked the right startup.

Applicants are encouraged to send a updated Cover Letter, CV ( less than 3 pages) and a current academic transcript.
