There are four stages to creating a Displayr document: adding your data, analyzing your data, visualizing your insights, and sharing your document.  We have included interactive tutorials throughout this guide. We recommend that you do them. They are an easy and fun way to learn how to use Displayr.

Adding your data

The first and most important step is to get your data into Displayr. There are lots of ways to get your data into Displayr. You can:

• Adding a data file into an existing Displayr document
• Type or paste data into an existing Displayr document
• Import data using advanced queries in SQL and R, including using APIs and web-scraping
• If you use Displayr's sister product, Q, you can also create a new document by uploading a Q Pack (see Using Q Packs in Displayr for more information).

Adding a data set

You can easily add a data set in a Displayr document by clicking Add a data set in the bottom left-hand corner of your document.

You will then be presented with multiple options on where you can add your data from.

You can add many types of data files including:

• SPSS data files (.SAV)
• CSV
• Excel (XLS, XLSX)

Analyze your data

If you have uploaded a Q Pack, it will already contain your analyses. Otherwise, you can start analyzing your data once your data set is added. One of the first steps in most data analyses is to start creating tables.

To create a table, drag the variable that you're interested in from the data set section onto the page.  If there are any statistical relationships in that table they will be highlighted in blue and red.

To create a crosstab, just drop another variable onto a table you have already created.

Visualize your insights

Now comes the fun bit: visualizing the data. Displayr has a huge library of state-of-the-art interactive visualizations. To explore these, go to Insert > Visualization. Once you pick a visualization, you will notice that the menu on the right-hand side of the page changes. You'll now need to connect a table (see previous section) to your visualization. To do this locate Data Source > 'Output in Pages' and select the table from the drop-down menu.
