Some tables are just too complex for humans to find patterns in them easily. Displayr contains the world’s finest correspondence analysis tools, just for this problem.

Optimized for data reduction of tables

The essence of much of finding stories is data reduction. Taking a table and progressively simplifying it by merging and reordering categories until all that’s left is the story. Displayr’s unique drag and drop interface has been specifically designed to make this as easy as possible.

Once you have found key facts, the next step in finding stories is to organize all your findings into pyramids. Displayr allows you to do this by drag and drop.

Data stories FAQs

What is a data story?
A data story is how we communicate the story in your data. It comes after you have done your analysis and identified key results, and is about how you package up these findings into an entertaining narrative for your audience. For a full guide on the basics of data storytelling, you can check out Displayr’s webinar on the topic.
The reason data storytelling is so challenging is largely due to the data itself. Data can be confusing, unclear, or weak. Even if the raw data does tell a captivating story, there is still the challenge of synthesizing the findings into a report that is easily digestible while still containing enough detail.
If you’ve spent much time working in research, you would have seen plenty of bad data stories. Think slide after slide of boring results, a lack of visualizations, unclear messaging, and so on. For more knowledge on how to avoid bad data storytelling, why not learn from the data story guide?

Whether it’s the concerns of America dashboard, this basketball vs baseball infographic, or a filterable market map, Displayr’s examples gallery is a great place to find examples of quality data stories. Beyond Displayr, we’re starting to see a number of news publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald, The Washington Post, and The Guardian excel in data storytelling.

You know your data story is working when your audience not only understands the findings but is also engaged and takes action based on them. A good data story resonates—people remember the key insights, they share it with others, and they use it to make decisions.
